Clothing made for different days in animal care

A dog groomer working with water and loose hair, a walker heading outside in changing weather, and a veterinary nurse working in a clinical environment need very different clothing. Choosing the right garment for each role makes more sense than putting everyone into one generic uniform.

Printingmad, operated by TEE MAD LIMITED in Washington, Tyne and Wear, supplies plain and printed garments on supported products for dog groomers, animal-care services and veterinary teams across Washington, Sunderland, Newcastle and the wider North East. Our staging catalogue includes waterproof aprons, wrap tunics, scrub-style tops, comfortable polos, zip fleeces and softshells.

For a recognisable local business, decide on the brand colours and final logo first, then choose garments that suit the team’s daily tasks and individual sizes. Grooming clothing may need useful pockets and easy cleaning, while walkers may prioritise removable layers. Veterinary practices must additionally check infection-control protocols; an ordinary garment description does not prove suitability for every clinical procedure.

Choosing garments for comfort, cleanliness and the weather

Grooming water and loose hair

A bib apron can keep a work top drier during bathing; wrap tunics can provide accessible pockets and a coordinated appearance. Check the exact supplier care label and fit. Waterproof and bleach-resistant fabric claims do not mean splash-proof chemical PPE.

Dog walking and pet visits

Outdoor workers may want a polo under a zipped fleece, softshell or bodywarmer so layers can change through the day. Consider visibility, suitable footwear and the forecast; the RX500 softshell has no waterproof rating guaranteed on this page.

Veterinary team clothing

Stretch scrub-style tunics offer useful movement and pockets, but the employer must decide which garments may be worn in clinical areas, how they are laundered and what additional PPE is needed. Do not mistake an everyday scrub top for certified infection-barrier protection.

Animal welfare, hygiene and workplace protection

Animal-related work can involve scratches, bites, zoonotic infections, wet environments, cleaning chemicals and, for dog walkers, outdoor hazards. The business must assess the actual activities and select safe handling procedures, hygiene measures and task-specific PPE. An ordinary waterproof apron, wrap tunic or polo should never be assumed to protect against all chemical, biological or clinical hazards.

Veterinary practices should follow their own infection prevention procedures, including appropriate hand hygiene, protective clothing, changing and laundering arrangements. Groomers should assess animals’ behaviour and plan safe handling, bathing and disinfection. For further information see the UK veterinary nursing infection-control standard, dog grooming occupational standard and HSE zoonoses guidance.

1
Choose garment codes, colours and sizes

Record the approved supplier code and quantities for each groomer, walker or veterinary colleague. Buy plain clothing or select supported printing options on eligible garments.

Front printing is £5 including VAT per garment. Front and back is £7.50 including VAT per garment where the chosen product supports both positions. Garment prices are separate.

4
Allow for printed production

Delivery is £9.40 excluding VAT per combined box. Eligible printed and mixed orders may be collected free in Washington after ready-to-collect confirmation. Plain-only orders use supplier delivery and cannot be collected.

Pet-care uniform FAQs

Which garments are most useful for a professional dog groomer?

An adjustable waterproof apron or a suitable wrap tunic can help keep everyday clothing drier during washing and grooming. Consider hair shedding, freedom of movement, pockets and garment cleaning instructions. Waterproof fabric does not automatically establish protective PPE certification.

Is the PR115 apron suitable for grooming wash areas?

Its supplier describes waterproof, bleach-resistant fabric and an adjustable neckband. Confirm its fit and care requirements before use. Do not assume it is certified to protect from disinfectants or other hazardous chemicals.

What is the difference between PR174 and PR177?

PR174 has a supplier-described waterproof and bleach-resistant finish with a double pocket, while PR177 is a wrap-around tunic with a V-neck and front-to-back ties. Check actual colour, length, size and decoration options for each.

Can pet grooming logos or staff names be printed?

Yes, where the garment supports printing in the chosen position. Supply your final logo and any names as print-ready artwork; Printingmad does not modify supplied designs. Check placement near pockets or ties before ordering.

How much does printing cost?

Front printing is £5 including VAT per garment. Front-and-back printing is £7.50 including VAT per garment only where both positions are offered. Garment prices are additional.

Can I have pet-care uniforms embroidered?

Embroidery is available by enquiry and depends on the chosen garment and position. Supply the product code, quantities and finished logo for a quotation. Embroidery is not assumed to be selectable at checkout and no standard embroidery charge is quoted.

Do you sell uniforms suitable for veterinary practice staff?

We have scrub-style tunics such as NN200, NN300 and NN310. The practice must assess any clinical infection-control, laundering and PPE requirements for the specific duties. A product being sold as a scrub tunic does not prove it meets every clinical protocol.

Can a normal tunic protect against animal infections?

No general infection barrier is guaranteed. Veterinary practices must use their own infection-prevention procedures and risk assessments, including appropriate gloves, gowns, hand hygiene and other PPE when required.

What should professional dog walkers wear outside?

A comfortable polo with a removable zipped fleece, softshell or bodywarmer may work for regular walks. Select footwear, weather protection, visibility and other safety items according to the actual conditions; do not assume a softshell is fully waterproof.

How do we choose colours and sizes for pet-care staff?

Choose an approved colour palette and check each supplier garment size chart. Shapes and shade names vary between wrap tunics, scrub tops, polos and outerwear; record exact codes and sizes for future reorders.

Can I mix plain and printed grooming uniforms?

Yes. Mixed plain and printed orders are dispatched together once printing is finished. Plain-only orders use supplier delivery and are not eligible for collection.

How long do personalised uniforms take?

Printed garments take 7–10 working days. Allow time before an opening day or new-starter date for staff measurements, artwork and product checks.

How much does delivery cost and can we collect?

Delivery costs £9.40 excluding VAT per combined box. Free collection is available for eligible printed and mixed orders only after ready-to-collect confirmation in Washington. Plain-only orders cannot be collected.

Can personalised pet-care uniforms be returned?

Personalised items are generally non-returnable for a change of mind; statutory rights for faulty or incorrectly supplied goods are not affected.

Keep branding consistent as your animal-care business grows

Whether you have two mobile groomers or a larger veterinary support team, record each person’s preferred size, approved garment code, colour and the final artwork file. This helps make new-starter orders consistent as staffing changes and keeps your branding recognisable across different services. Recheck product sizes, colours and stock on every reorder; supplier ranges can change.

Choose finished designs that stand out clearly against the garment colour, and avoid placing logos over pockets, complex seams or technical areas unless a suitable position is actually offered. Follow garment washing instructions and any print-aftercare advice. For help preparing a group order, see our size guide, artwork guide and garment care guide.

Personalised clothing is generally non-returnable for a change of mind, but statutory rights for faulty or incorrectly supplied goods remain unaffected. Read the returns policy before ordering.
