Workwear that fits a day spent outdoors

From regular lawn care and hedge maintenance to full garden transformations, outdoor work involves changing weather, movement and different levels of physical activity. The right uniform should make your business look professional without getting in the way of the job.

Printingmad, operated by TEE MAD LIMITED in Washington, supplies plain clothing and printing on supported workwear for gardening and landscaping businesses across Washington, Sunderland, Newcastle and the wider North East. Our catalogue includes lightweight polos, tougher everyday tops, work trousers, cargo shorts, fleece layers, softshells and selected hi-vis products.

Choose by the work carried out: domestic maintenance staff may prefer a tidy polo; hard landscapers may prioritise pockets and durable trousers; grounds teams working across larger sites may require different layers and site visibility. Keep the company’s garment codes and colours consistent, and treat any specialist safety protection as a separate requirement.

Choose the right clothing for the season and task

Warm-weather gardening

Breathable polos and practical shorts may be comfortable for suitable tasks. Consider sun exposure and the need for leg protection before selecting shorts. Technical wicking fabrics may have decoration restrictions.

Cold or changeable days

Layer a polo with a microfleece, bodywarmer or softshell so staff can adjust to conditions. Do not assume a softshell is fully waterproof: check the current supplier weather ratings.

Movement and practical storage

Landscapers often bend, kneel and carry equipment. Compare trouser cut, pockets and stretch features. General work trousers, even with reinforced panels, are not automatically certified protective clothing.

Machinery, chainsaws, spraying and PPE: choose protection separately

The garments shown are primarily general branded workwear. They are not a substitute for protective equipment required by a task-specific risk assessment. Strimmers, hedge cutters and other powered tools can require suitable eye, face, hearing, hand or foot protection. Pesticide or chemical use can require separate protective clothing and controls based on the product and exposure risks.

Ordinary cargo trousers or stretch trousers must never be treated as chainsaw-protective legwear. Chainsaw work requires suitable trained operators and the protective clothing identified for that activity. Where hi-vis is required, check the correct certified class and colour, and ensure decoration does not affect reflective or fluorescent areas. See HSE chainsaw PPE guidance and HSE workplace PPE guidance.

Gardening workwear FAQs

What should a gardener wear for everyday maintenance?

A comfortable polo or T-shirt, practical trousers and adaptable layers can be suitable for many non-specialist tasks. The correct clothing depends on the weather, equipment and risk assessment. Select specialist PPE separately for hazards such as flying debris or sharp tools.

Can I print my gardening business logo on polos and jackets?

Printing is available on supported garments and positions. Supply finished, ready-to-print artwork; we do not edit customer artwork. Check the product page before assuming a jacket, technical fabric or hi-vis item can be decorated.

What are your standard printing charges?

Front printing costs £5 including VAT per garment. Front-and-back printing costs £7.50 including VAT per garment where the product supports both positions. The garment itself is priced separately.

Can you embroider a landscaping company logo?

Embroidery is available by enquiry, subject to garment and placement suitability. Please send the garment code, logo and quantities. Embroidery is not assumed to be selectable at checkout and no embroidery price is quoted here.

Are these trousers chainsaw-resistant?

No chainsaw-cut protection is established for the recommended general workwear trousers. Operators carrying out chainsaw work must use appropriate protective clothing and equipment selected for that task; ordinary cargo and stretch trousers are not substitutes.

Are the softshell and fleece products waterproof?

Do not assume they are. A fleece provides warmth, while a softshell may offer weather resistance depending on its current specification. Check the manufacturer’s actual waterproof or water-resistant claims and choose specialist waterproof workwear if required.

Do you have options for female gardening staff?

Yes. The catalogue includes women’s fit trousers such as RG647, alongside other garment ranges. Check available sizes, colour options and the actual supplier measurement chart before ordering.

Can a whole grounds maintenance team wear matching colours?

You can choose complementary garments from the colours offered by each supplier. Shades may vary between brands, so compare them carefully and record each approved product code and colour for future reorders.

Can a printed logo go onto a hi-vis vest?

Only if decoration is permitted for that garment and does not impair its required protective visibility. Do not cover reflective strips or reduce required fluorescent material. Confirm the relevant certification and manufacturer guidance before printing.

How long does printed gardening workwear take?

Printed garments take 7–10 working days. Allow extra time to gather sizes and approve final artwork before a new contract, event or staff start date.

Can I order plain garments and printed uniforms together?

Yes. Mixed plain and printed orders are dispatched together after the printed items are complete. Plain-only orders are delivered by the supplier and are not available for collection.

How much is delivery, and can I collect from Washington?

Delivery costs £9.40 excluding VAT per combined box. Free collection is available for eligible printed and mixed orders after confirmation that they are ready to collect. Plain-only orders cannot be collected.

Can personalised gardening uniforms be returned?

Personalised goods are generally non-returnable for a change of mind, including when an incorrect size was selected. Your statutory rights for faulty or incorrectly supplied goods are unaffected.

Keep your landscaping team’s uniform consistent

Outdoor businesses often add temporary staff during busy months. Keep a simple list of approved garment codes, size measurements, colours and your final logo file. This makes repeat orders easier while giving new starters suitable layers for their work. If staff wear different brands, compare the actual supplier colours rather than assuming that every forest green or navy is identical.

Use the garment size guide before ordering, especially for trousers and fitted garments. Follow garment wash-care instructions and the specific print aftercare advice; outdoor work can mean frequent laundering, but no universal wash resistance is claimed. For artwork file preparation see the artwork guide.

Personalised garments are generally non-returnable for a change of mind, but statutory rights for faulty or incorrectly supplied goods remain unaffected. Our returns policy explains the position.
